João Sobral is a Brazilian artist, a young craftsman dedicated to sound. He builds rhythms, melodies, songs, and musical instruments, blending acoustic and electronic textures with playful and experimental approaches. Drawing inspiration from the richness of Brazilian music and regional traditions, his work spans the folkloric to the contemporary. Currently, Sobral creates instruments from everyday objects and engages in multiple projects while dedicating himself to the study and research of art and cultural policies.

From Brazil to the world, his music has reached London through the Brazilian music researcher and DJ Gilles Peterson.

Sobral released the single Semanas Inteiras and closed 2023 with Correnteza do Coração, an intimate journey into the artist’s emotions. His music carries the lightness and sentimentality of Bossa Nova, with gentle guitar and flute transporting listeners to the shores of Ipanema. João sings of love and its charms, showing that loving can be simple, poetic, and profoundly human.
